DR. LISA M. LA ROSA
Psychologist
Dr. Lisa LaRosa is a licensed psychologist, social worker and a therapist specializing in
trauma for over 30 years. Because science shows that stress and trauma are stored in
the body, her practice has expanded to incorporate healing touch modalities into
treatment. Dr. LaRosa integrates mind, body, and spirit practices into a unique and
individualized approach to healing and wellness.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Discover the healing power of gentle touch.
CranioSacral Therapy is a treatment that releases tension in the body by focusing on
the CranioSacral system (the tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord) to
relieve tightness and restriction that can have a negative impact on your central nervous system. Clients remain fully clothed and lay on a massage table, while delicate manual techniques, no more than a 5 gram load (the weight of a nickel) are used to find and release problem areas while restoring the rhythm and flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
CranioSacral therapy can improve the function of the ventral branch of the vagus nerve and heal problems that are a result of chronic hyperarousal (sympathetic over-activation) or dorsal-vagal shutdown and dysfunction.
CranioSacral therapy has been shown to naturally reduce pain and stress, strengthen
your resistance to disease, and enhance your health and well-being. Clients often report
feelings of deep relaxation and restoration following treatment.
The following are some of the conditions that CranioSacral Therapy can help with:
– Migraines and Headaches
– Fibromyalgia
– Chronic Fatigue
– Stress and Tension-related Disorders
– Chronic Neck and Back Pain
– Anxiety and Depression
– PTSD
– TMJ
– Post-Concussion Symptoms
– Motor-Coordination Impairments
HEALING TOUCH
An approach to treatment which integrates various bodywork modalities to promote
physical and emotional healing. These include Emotional Freedom Techniques (a
proven therapeutic technique that uses taps or applying light touch to acupressure
points along meridians of the body to release emotional blockages); Reiki; as well as
practical and effective strategies of how to stimulate the vagal system to promote
feelings of calm. Clients will learn self-help exercises for anxiety, depression, and
stress-management.
EMDR
(EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING THERAPY)
EMDR is an evidence-based practice best known for effective resolution of traumatic
events, although it has been researched and shown to be helpful in treatment of anxiety,
phobias, depression, and pain management as well. EMDR therapy can be used for
short-term treatment; single incident traumatic events; and as an adjunct therapy
approach. EMDR therapy can take place either in person or online through telehealth.
Dr. LaRosa is a EMDR certified therapist; EMDR Institute Consultant and Facilitator and specializes in using EMDR creatively with children and adolescents.
HYPNOSIS AND PAST-LIFE REGRESSION
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and can be described as a state of intense, focused
concentration that is effective for anxiety, phobias, pain management and sleep issues.
Learning self-hypnosis can be an effective strategy for reducing stress. Clients may also
choose to use hypnosis for Past-Life Regressions to explore past lives and release
traumas, or ailments with no physiological origin or explanation, as well as fears and
phobias.
DREAM GROUPS
Dreams are messages to us, from us, and all about us.
– Would you like to understand your dreams?
– Would you like to recall more of your dreamlife?
Learn how to explore the images of your own dreams in the safety of therapeutic and
sacred space held in an experiential dream group. Based on Montague Ullman’s
Appreciating Dreams Group Approach, members will follow a four stage process of
working with their dreams and the dreams of other group members. By sharing our own
associations to the images that emerge in dream life, we can help each dreamer better
understand the multiple layers of meaning that are imbedded in the richness of dream
symbolism.
